Summary

In 1999, a permanent copyright expert committee was set up in Estonia with a view to monitoring compliance of the level of protection of copyright and related rights with the international obligations assumed by the Republic of Estonia, to analysing the implementation of copyright legislation, to making proposals to the Government of the Republic for amendment of copyright legislation and for accession to international agreements, to resolving, at the request of contesting parties, disputes on copyright and related rights by conciliation of the parties and to fulfilling other tasks assigned by the Government of the Republic. The author gives an overview of the establishment of the committee, its membership, work procedures and authority and activities.
