Summary

Philosophy of law that has held a reputable place in the traditional Western academic teaching for a long time is today forced to defend its position in law programmes against attempts at its devaluation and even rejection. The tendency and its reasons are analysed and arguments are put forward in the defence of the need to maintain and enhance the important role of philosophy of law in law programmes.
