Summary

A student law firm opened for business in Tartu at the end of this February. The author explains the principles of operation of such law firms and introduces the model used at the University of Tartu where students of the third year provide free legal aid for people with low income, and receive credit points for their activities. The author who also took part in the project describes the launching of the firm and different aspects of its everyday work. The author highly values the role of the student legal firm in educating law students and giving them practical experience in the lawyer’s profession.
