Summary


Several interesting seminars on the history of law were held in the autumn and winter of 1995. Gerhard Lingelbach, a professor of history of law from the University of Jena visited Tartu in October and made a presentation on P.J.A. von Feuerbach. Dr. Bo Lindberg, a legal historian from the University of Uppsala made a presentation on the theoretical foundations of society of the so-called European ancient regime during 13-18th centuries. Johann Wessen from the University of Linköping dealt with theoretical and historical aspects of national minority issues. Dr. Peeter Kiviloo from Canada spoke about the need and obligation of the society to help integrate criminals into the society. Hans Hattenhauer, a professor from the University of Kiel spoke about the main principles of legal education in Germany. Dr. Romans Apsitis, the former Latvian Minister of Justice and, currently, a member of the Seim, participated in a discussion on the cooperation between Latvians and Estonians in researching the history of law.
