Summary

The article provides an overview of the legislative drafting process in the United Kingdom. The parliament and, first and foremost, the House of Commons plays a key role in the process of drafting legislation of general application. A majority of laws passed by the parliament are the so-called public acts of parliament introduced by the government as opposed to private acts of parliament concerning private persons. An increasing need of the contemporary society for legal regulation has led to a continuing growth in the share of delegated legislation. The parliament of the United Kingdom has been able to keep such tendency under control by a distinct determination of the authorities.
