Summary

The Employment Contracts Act regulates work under employment contracts whereas the Public Service Act governs employment of state and local government officials in certain offices. However, several problems have arisen in the application of the Public Service Act. This article focuses on only a few areas regulated by the Public Service Act with special attention being paid to the salary of officials (official salary) and payment of additional remuneration, payment of compensation upon transfer of officials to other offices and provision of officials with study holidays.
