Summary

The further development of the Estonian banking is influenced by the Law of the Estonian Bank of May 18, 1993 and regulating the activities of the Central Bank of Estonia as well as by the Law of Credit Banks being in the stage of a draft law.

An immediate adoption of the Law of Credit Banks would help to the Estonian banking to a new level.

For the time being two main points have to be made clear: what are the initial bases of the Law of Credit Banks and which are the tasks of this law.

As an initial basis it is possible to use the Law of Credit Banks adopted by the National Assembly in 1932 while its task would be to reinforce the concept set in the Law and establish balance between the Central Bank and other credit institutions.
